Please let every student know that ANYONE who scores Mastery or Advanced on ANY LEAP ASSESSMENT or a 20 on the ACT will receive a PACK THE STAND CARD for the next year. This card will grant them free entry to any Port Barre Middle/High School home event or game for the entire 2026-2027 school year. This means if they work hard and study diligently this year, they will earn a year’s worth of home games for free. Please note that this does not include playoff games. LEAP ASSESSMENTS are in APRIL, but the work begins now. Come to school, study, complete assignments, and ask for extra help to get your PACK THE STAND CARD. You can do it. Coach Mac believes in YOU!!!!

We are finishing up the first reporting period of the 25-26 school year. On Friday, September 5th, the students will receive their first Progress Report for you to review their progress. We encourage you to continue sending your children to school as we prepare them for success down the road. We love seeing the students daily and cannot wait for more excitement and enthusiasm as our year continues.

We are excited to be off to a great start at Port Barre High School this year. Please remember, it is very important that ALL students are present so we can provide them with the best educational foundation to help them reach for the stars. We want them here every day!
I pray this year you feel as excited as I am to be on campus, knowing we are making strides each day to improve for YOU, the community, students, staff, and all stakeholders. We are working tirelessly to create a culture that is safe, inviting, and allows every student to flourish academically and personally.
Louisiana state law sets attendance requirements based on minimum instructional minutes per school year, not per subject. Individual schools and school districts track student absences from specific classes, but state law focuses on the total time a student is present for instructional purposes. Per year (non-semester), students must attend a minimum of 60,120 minutes. If a student misses more than ten days, we must make up that time to comply with state law. Excessive absences can be setbacks that even summer school may not remedy, depending on the number of missed days.
Please make every effort to ensure your student is present at school daily so we can create a school of success and achievement. Every day matters, and of course, IT’S ALWAYS A GREAT DAY TO BE A RED DEVIL!
